From 1 July 2016, new maritime rules will force shippers to verify the weight of each container shipped. Verification can be attained using certified weighing equipment or by using either of the Approved Methods. firstly by weighing the packed container using calibrated and certified weighing equipment. This can be arranged by shipper or third party. or secondly by weighing all the packages/cargo items and contents (including securing equipment/dunnage) of the container by means of certified method approved by the competent authority and adding those weights to the container’s tare weight shown on the container. With this global safety initiative comes new weighing challenges for exporters, consolidators and your logistics partners. If you are packing or handling grounded containers, the team at National Weighing & Instruments can work with you to find the best weighing solution to meet your compliance needs.
